Unimaginable Tragedy

Today, I was going to post about my trip to Montreal in order to bring my Mum home from the hospital.  But driving home today, listening to the radio, I heard the awful news.

"Unimaginable" is the headline.  Parents throughout the world are hugging their children a little longer and a little tighter.  North America and probably the entire western world are searching for a way to make sense of these voilent deaths and to assign blame.  Facebook is alive with heartbreak and anger.  Some posts I've read call for the complete eradication of all guns.  Others demand airport style security at schools.

A few are talking about society's dismal lack of treatment for the mentally ill, especially those who are suicidal or homicidal.

There will be and there should be a widespread political response to this terrible tragedy.  But for now, as we hold our children, we must stand up together for hope and kindness.  We must act to protect that which we hold sacred - the love in our hearts that shields us against hate.

So, to begin, let's watch this little film.
