It feels selfish and if something does wrong when you are not there or not watching, it's all the more difficult the next time you try for closeness with your spouse. But the stakes are high and there are too many marriages that fail when faced with the relentless demands of chronic, longterm care. The Caregivers' Living Roomhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10920119448415733545noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1489173439865061632.post-81257808522848580112012-07-02T15:19:54.273-04:002012-07-02T15:19:54.273-04:00It is true, as in my Grandlove's situation, hi...It is true, as in my Grandlove's situation, his mom just married a wonderful guy in March and they have to remember each other, while caring for the little guy. I preach this in my prenatal classes and my husband and I made a pact when we got married that we would continue to "date" even when we had children. Oh, yes, "dating" was far more tricky when our child was born exceptionally and forever dependent but we still made "us" a priority. In a 24 hour period, if a couple can muster the energy and creativity....intimacy is always a possibility and a necessary one.
